Who we are

What we collect

Only what you type into our forms, plus a few technical details that help us stop spam.

• Newsletter: your name and email address. If you choose to add it, your mobile number and whether you agreed to texts.
• Suggest a gift: your name, email address, how you know the gift, and the details you give us about it.
• With every form: the time you sent it, the exact wording you agreed to, your IP address and your browser type. This is our record that you asked to hear from us, and it helps us block automated spam.

How we use it

• To send you the newsletter you signed up for, and texts only if you agreed to them.
• To look into a gift you suggested, and to email you about it if we would like to know more.
• To keep our forms free of spam and to show, if ever asked, that you agreed to hear from us.

We don't sell your details, and we don't pass them to brands or shops. If a brand would like to send a sample for review, we ask you first.

Who helps us

A few services handle your details for us, and only to do the job below. Some of them store data outside Australia.

• Cloudflare hosts this site, runs the spam check on our forms, and stores what you send us.
• Acumbamail sends the newsletter and keeps the subscriber list. It is based in Spain.
• Google holds gift suggestions in a spreadsheet we review, and serves the fonts on this site, which means your browser asks Google for them.

Cookies and your device

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Cloudflare's spam check looks at technical signals from your browser to tell people from bots. This site also remembers on your own device whether you've subscribed, so it doesn't ask you twice. Clearing your browser data removes that.

Your choices

• Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops the emails straight away.
• You can ask us what we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing . We will reply within 30 days.
• We keep your details while you're subscribed or while we're looking into your suggestion. We keep the record that you agreed for as long as we might need to show it.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your details, email us first and we'll try to put it right. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
